Union Public Service Commission has notified IAS Exam Pattern 2016 for all those aspirants who are going to appear in the Civil Services examination.UPSC conducts Civil services Exam in two phases primary & main. IAS Exam Pattern 2016
The Indian Administrative exam comprises two consecutive stages:
|Civil Services (Preliminary) Exam||Civil Services (Main) Exam|
|The Preliminary Examination will consist of 2 papers of MCQ(multiple choice questions) and hold a Max.-400 marks. This Written examination is based on screening test. Only those applicants who are declared by the Commission to have eligible in the Preliminary Examination in the year will be entitled for admission to the Main Examination||The Main Examination will consist of written examination and an personal interview test. The written examination will conduct of nine papers of essay type in the subjects out of which 2 papers will be of qualifying in nature. Their marks will not be calculated in the main examination. Marks carry for all the compulsory papers (Paper–1to Paper-7) and Marks obtained in personal Interview for Personality Test will be counted for rank card .|
|The minimum succeeding marks for various societies have been as under:-
- Applying contender must have minimum of 30 marks in Paper-I and 70 marks in Paper-II.
- Candidates must secure 10% marks in each of the seven competitive papers i.e. Essay, GS-I, GS-II, GS-III, GS-IV, Optional-I and Optional-II
IAS Exam Pattern 2016 Marks Distribution
According to official notification UPSC will conduct CSE in the month of May, 2016.Those aspirants who wish to enhance their career in civil services they should work hard, patience, perseverance to clear the exam because the exam is very tough. This exam will be held in the morning shift and contains 2 hours’ time. Each question holds 2 marks.

Applicants, who obtain who qualified both primarily and main shall be summoned for an interview for a Personality Test. The number of candidates to be summoned for interview will be about twice the number of vacancies to be filled. The interview will carry 275 marks (with no minimum qualifying marks).
